A woman from Zamboanga, the Philippines, (name withheld for her safety) explains:
-what it is like to grow up and live in a mixed religious community;
-how terrorist attacks impact the region;
-and how locals deal with and understand the danger they live with.

Hostilities in Zamboanga, Philippines, have intensified. U.S. staff members from CFCA canceled their plans to travel there. Foreigners are a popular target for terrorists, but at the moment, the danger is heightened for the local population, as well. Please send your prayers and thoughts for the safety of the Zamboanga community. You can find out more about the threat in Mindanao from the U.S. State Department travel warning page.

We want to remind you of the vibrant peaceful people we met in Zamboanga during the past years. There are communities where Muslims and Christians live together harmoniously, and everyone we talked to said religious difference was not provoking hostilities, but that the terrorism was from outside extremist groups causing trouble for everyone.

 Peace to everyone!
